4.4.1 Control WiresConnect the shields to ground in a proper way to ensureoptimum electrical immunity.Connect the wires as described in the OperatingInstructions for the frequency converter. Remember toconnect the shields in a proper way to ensure optimumelectrical immunity.130BT340.10Illustration 4.13 Control Cable Installation4.4.2 Power ConnectionsCabling and fusingNOTICECables GeneralAll cabling must comply with national and localregulations on cable cross-sections and ambienttemperature. Copper (75°C) conductors arerecommended. The power cable connections are situated as shown below. The size of the cable cross section is determined accordingto the frequency converter's current rating and the localregulation requirement. For protection of the frequency converter the correctlyrated fuses must be used or the unit must be with built-infuses. The recommended fuses can be seen in the tables inthe fuses section. Always ensure that proper fusing ismade according to the local regulation.4.4.3 GroundingThe following basic issues need to be considered wheninstalling a frequency converter to obtain electromagneticcompatibility (EMC):• Safety grounding: The frequency converter couldhave a high leakage current. It must be groundedappropriately for safety reasons. Apply localsafety regulations.• High-frequency grounding: Keep the ground wireconnections as short as possible.Connect the frequency converters to the ground with thelowest possible conductor impedance. The lowest possibleconductor impedance is obtained by keeping theconductor short and by using the large possible crosssection conductors. The metal cabinets of the different devices are mountedon the cabinet rear plate using the lowest possible HFimpedance. This avoids having different HF voltages forthe individual devices and avoids the risk of radiointerference currents running in connection cables thatmay be used between the devices. The radio interferencewill have been reduced.Use the fastening bolts of the devices as HF connection tothe rear plate. It is necessary to remove insulating paint orsimilar from the fastening points. How to Install Operating Instructions36 Danfoss A/S © Rev. 05/2014 All rights reserved. MG33X40244
