• Use star washers and galvanically conductiveinstallation plates.2.6.2 Emission RequirementsAccording to the EMC product standard for adjustable speed drives EN/IEC 61800-3:2004, the EMC requirements depend onthe intended use of the drive. The EMC product standard defines 4 categories, described in Table 2.2, along with therequirements for mains supply voltage conducted emissions.Category Definition according to EN/IEC 61800-3:2004Conducted emission requirementaccording to the limits given inEN 55011C1 Drives installed in the 1st environment (home and office) with a supply voltageless than 1000 V.Class BC2 Drives installed in the 1st environment (home and office) with a supply voltageless than 1000 V, which are not plug-in or movable, and which are intended forprofessional installation and commissioning.Class A Group 1C3 Drives installed in the 2nd environment (industrial) with a supply voltage lowerthan 1000 V.Class A Group 2C4 Drives installed in the 2nd environment with a supply voltage equal to or above1000 V, or rated current equal to or above 400 A, or intended for use incomplex systems. No limit line.Make an EMC plan.Table 2.2 Emission Requirements - EN/IEC 61800-3:2004When the generic emission standards are used, the drive must comply with the following limits:Environment Generic standardConducted emission requirementaccording to the limits given inEN 55011First environment(home and office)EN/IEC 61000-6-3 Emission standard for residential, commercial, and light industrial environments.Class BSecond environment(industrial environment)EN/IEC 61000-6-4 Emission standard for industrialenvironments.Class A Group 1Table 2.3 Emission Requirements - EN/IEC 61000-6-3 and EN/IEC 61000-6-4A system comprises VLT® DriveMotor FCP 106, motor, andshielded motor cable. For this system, the conducted emission complies with EN55011 Class B, and the radiated emission complies with EN55011 Class A, Group 1. Compliance is achieved based onthe following conditions:• Built-in RFI filter.• Drive set to nominal switching frequency.• Maximum shielded motor cable length of 2 m(6.56 ft).2.6.3 Immunity RequirementsThe immunity requirements for drives depend on theenvironment in which they are installed. The requirementsfor the industrial environment are higher than therequirements for the home and office environment. AllDanfoss drives comply with the requirements for theindustrial environment. Therefore, the drives also complywith the lower requirements for home and officeenvironment with a large safety margin. To document immunity against burst transient fromelectrical phenomena, the following immunity tests havebeen carried in accordance with the following basicstandards:• EN 61000-4-2 (IEC 61000-4-2): Electrostaticdischarges (ESD): Simulation of electrostaticdischarges from human beings.• EN 61000-4-3 (IEC 61000-4-3): Incoming electro-magnetic field radiation, amplitude modulatedsimulation of the effects of radar and radiocommunication equipment, as well as mobilecommunications equipment.• EN 61000-4-4 (IEC 61000-4-4): Burst transients:Simulation of interference brought about byswitching a contactor, relay, or similar devices.Product Overview Design GuideMG03M302 Danfoss A/S © 12/2018 All rights reserved. 232 2
