CHAPTER 6 : MAINTENANCECHAPTER 6 : MAINTENANCE6.1 DescriptionThis chapter gives you the information of maintenance and the required instruments inorder to let you recover the troubles quickly.6.2 InstrumentsThe only instrument you need is a mult-meter, due to the embedded digital and analogtest abilities.6.3 Periodic MaintenanceFor every three months, you should do the following jobs.(A) Turn the power off, clean the modem, check the plugs, make sure all theconnectors are connected firmly.(B) Be sure that the indicators function well.6.4 TroubleshootingOnce the Network Series Modem malfunctions, please check and record theindicators at the moment then turn the power off. Consequently, make sure the IC's onprinted circuit board are firmly sited. Try to turn the power on again, if the trouble stillexists, please follow the procedures below.1) Power Unit• Make sure you get a proper power source. If no indicator is lighted,probably the problem is the power unit.• Check the power fuse; if it is broken, replace it.2) RS-232 Interface• Do the AL (local analog loopback) test, feed some data into the modemand check if they were returned correctly.• Please make sure the interface is connected firmly; also check if the cableis in good condition.6.5 Return ProceduresWe suggest the individuals who hold a malfunctioned the Network SeriesModem would contact with your local representative or distributor of or justdirectly access our customer service department as soon as possible in order not tocause catastrophe.
