Before performing any cleaningoperations of the external parts of the appliance,switch the machine off, remove the plug from thesocket and let the machine cool down.Cleaning the Flavour SaverTo clean the Flavour Saver more efficiently, it can beremoved from the filter holder cone by sliding it outfrom the top (Fig. 26). Do not use solvents or abrasive detergents to cleanthe machine. Use a soft, damp cloth.2. Clean the filter-holder cup, the filters, drip tray andwater tank regularly.To empty the drip tray, remove the cup warmergrid, remove the water and clean the tray using acloth: then re-assemble the drip tray.Clean the water tank using a soft bottle-brush inorder to reach the bottom.Danger! During cleaning, never immerse themachine in water: it is an electric appliance.DESCALING“Drip coffee” sectionFormation of scale depends on the hardness of the wa-ter and on how often the coffee machine is used.To obtain optimum performance, the appliance shouldbe descaled regularly, at least every 40 cycles.To descale, proceed as follows:1. Fill the carafe with four cups of water;2. Dissolve two spoonfuls (about 30 grams) of citricacid (available from chemists or drug stores) in thecarafe and pour the solution into the water tank.3. Place the carafe on the hot plate and the filter hol-der without ground coffee.4. Filter the equivalent of two cups then turn the ap-pliance off.5. Leave the solution to work for 15 minutes, then re-peat steps 4 and 5 once again.6 Turn the appliance on again and allow the rest ofthe solution to filter.7 Rinse by operating the appliance with water only atleast three times (a full carafe each time).Repairs for malfunctioning caused by problems of cal-cium build-up are not covered by the guarantee if thedescaling process described above is not carried outregularly.“Espresso coffee” sectionIt is recommended to descale the machine about every200 coffees.It is recommended to use De’Longhi descaler that canbe found on the market.Follow this procedure:1. Fill the tank with the descaling solution obtainedby diluting the descaler with water following theindications given on the pack.2. Press the on/off button and wait for the OK light toswitch on.Î°ÊÊ >iÊÃÕÀiÊÌ>ÌÊÌiÊwÌiÀÊ`iÀÊÃÊÌÊ>ÌÌ>Vi`Ê>`Êposition a suitable container under the machineoutlet.4.
