6When using electrical appliances, basicsafety precautions should always be followed,including the following:1. Read all instructions.2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handlesand knobs.3. To protect against electric shock do notimmerse cord, plug and fryer in water orother liquid.4. Close supervision is necessary when anyappliance is used by or near children.5. Unplug from outlet when not in use andbefore cleaning. Allow to cool beforeputting on or taking off parts, and beforecleaning the appliance.6. Do not operate any appliance with adamaged cord or plug or after theappliance malfunctions, or has beendamaged in any manner. Return applianceto the nearest authorized service facility forexamination, repair or adjustment.7. The use of accessory attachments notrecommended by the appliancemanufacturer may cause injuries.8. Do not use outdoors.9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table orcounter, or touch hot surfaces.10. Do not place on or near a hot gas orelectric burner or in a heated oven11. Extreme caution must be used whenmoving an appliance containing hot oil orother liquids.12. Always attach plug to appliance first, thenplug cord into the wall outlet. Todisconnect, turn the thermostat to the“OFF” position, then remove plug fromwall outlet13. Do not use appliance for other than intendeduse.14. Be sure handle is properly assembled tobasket and locked in placed.IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDSSAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONSTHIS PRODUCT IS FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLYWARNING• Plug cord into a 120 volt AC outlet.• Only connect the appliance to electrical socketswhich have a minimum load of 15A and which areproperly earthed (for appliances with a groundingplug). (If the socket and the plug on the applianceshould prove incompatible, get a professionallyqualified technician to replace the socket with a moresuitable one).• If your product is provided with a polarizedalternating current plug (a plug having one bladewider than the other), this plug will fit into thepower outlet only one way. This is a safety feature.If you are unable to insert the plug fully into theoutlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should stillfail to fit, contact your electrician to replace yourobsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose ofthe polarized plug.• Should the fryer leak, contact your nearest ServiceCenter or authorized Dealer for qualifiedassistance.• To assure safe operation, oversized foods or utensilsmust not be inserted into the fryer.• Children or infirm persons should not be allowedto use this product unsupervised.• Children should not be allowed to play with thisappliance.• It is totally normal that, on first use, the applianceemits a “new appliance” smell. If this happens,aerate the room.• Before cleaning and when not in use, make sure thatthe power plug is disconnected.• Do not move the deep fryer when the oil is hot, asit could cause serious burns.• The deep fryer must only be switched on after it hasbeen filled with oil or fat. If it is heated up while empty,a thermal safety device comes into operation whichstops it from working. In this case it is necessary tocontact our nearest authorised service centre.• Wash the following carefully before using the deepfryer for the first time: the bowl, the basket, the lid(without filter) and the oil saving set (only on somemodels) with hot water and dish washing liquid.Dry carefully when this has been completed.• The drainage pipe (only on some models) mustalways be closed and placed in its compartmentwhile the appliance is in use.• During use and when the oil is hot, the pipecompartment inspection door (only on somemodels) must always be closed.• To move the appliance, use the special liftinghandles.
