GHD™ & Scout™ User’s ManualGHD™ & Scout™ User’s Manual1425/Aug/2010• The SCOUT must be OFF or the batteries will notcharge You can not operate the SCOUT and charge thebatteries at the same time• Best performance from your batteries is obtained whenrecharged at temperature between 10ºC and 45ºCRecharging outside of that temperature range mayresult in reduced battery life or incomplete charging3.8 Battery Run Time - SCOUTHow long the SCOUT can operate between recharges depends uponseveral factors including the milliamp hour (mAh) capacity of thebatteries, age of the batteries, and how the SCOUT is used Generallya set of 6 new 2500 mAh batteries fully charged should run forapproximately 1 week between recharges given normal use3.9 Replacing Batteries - SCOUTWhen replacing the batteries with new ones remember to use onlyrechargeable Nickel-Metal-Hydride batteries and to replace ALL thebatteries at the same time even if you suspect that only one battery isbad Follow the instructions listed in steps 3 2 through 3 7 for properinstallation and charging when replacing batteries3.10 Connecting the Power Cord - SCOUTIf you choose to run of the power cord instead of the internalbatteries, connect the power cord to the receptacle on the bottomof the SCOUT being sure to properly align the plug on the powercord to the connector on the bottom of the SCOUT The SCOUTautomatically will switch from the internal batteries to the powercord for power when the unit is turned on3.11 Plug In the Power Cord - GHD & SCOUTPlug the radar’s power cord into your vehicle’s cigarette lighterreceptacle If you are using a separate battery pack as a power source,plug the radar’s power cord into the battery pack’s receptacle3.12 Control Panel FunctionsThe operation of the GHD and the SCOUT are controlled by the fve-button key pad and the trigger3.13 Measuring Target Speed in Faster Vehicle ModeBy default, the radar operates in Strongest Signal mode You canactivate faster mode by pushing the FAST button• The GHD and the SCOUT have the same functions andfeatures The major diference is that the SCOUT can bepowered from the internal Nickel-Metal-Hydride (NiMH)batteries without being restricted by a power cord25/Aug/201015
