Preparing Your Systems for Clustering 45Installing and Configuring the Shared StorageSystemSee "Cluster Hardware Requirements" on page 8 for a list of supportedDell/EMC storage systems. To install and configure the Dell/EMC storage system in your cluster:1 Update the core software on your storage system and enable AccessControl (optional) and install any additional software options, includingEMC SnapView™, EMC MirrorView™, and SAN Copy™. See your EMCNavisphere® documentation for more information.2 Install the EMC Navisphere Agent and EMC PowerPath software on eachcluster node.See your Navisphere documentation for more information.3 Update the storage system configuration settings using NavisphereManager.See "Enabling Access Control and Creating Storage Groups UsingNavisphere" on page 49 for more information. The following subsections provide an overview of the storage managementsoftware and procedures for connecting the host systems to the storagesystems.Access ControlFibre Channel topologies allow multiple clusters and stand-alone systems toshare a single storage system. However, if you cannot control access to theshared storage system, you can corrupt your data. To share your Dell/EMCstorage system with multiple heterogeneous host systems and restrict accessto the shared storage system, you need to enable Access Control.Enabling Access Control prevents all host systems from accessing any data onthe storage system until they are given explicit access to a LUN through astorage group. By enabling Access Control, you can prevent the host systemsfrom taking ownership of all LUNs on the storage system and preventunauthorized access to sensitive information.
