A client can changepermissions only by using the chmod and chown commands on the NFS mount point. You canalso specify the UNIX permissions for files and directories created in the container by Windowclients. See About UNIX Permissions for Windows Directories and Files. With UNIX file securitystyle, Windows clients cannot change any file or directory permissions. Read and write access iscontrolled by the UNIX permissions for Windows files and directories, which you set in GroupManager.• NTFS: The default security style for NAS containers is NTFS. Controls file access by Windowspermissions in all protocols. A client can change the permission and ownership by using theWindows Security tab. With NTFS file security style, all access permissions are controlled by theWindows administrator by using access control lists or share level permissions.• Mixed: Supports both NTFS and UNIX security styles. The permissions and ownership for a file ordirectory will be the last one set. Permissions and access rights from one protocol to another areautomatically translated. Mixed is a combination of NTFS and UNIX security style. A Windows usercan override UNIX user settings, and a UNIX user can override Windows user settings. This securitystyle is only recommend for scratch storage where maintaining permissions is not important.The default security style for NAS containers is NTFS.
