Youshould only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in yourproduct documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service andsupport team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not coveredby your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with theproduct.1 Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnectthe system from the electrical outlet.2 Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 50.3 Disconnect all cables from the card.4 Lift and rotate the expansion-card latch. See Figure 3-8.5 Grasp the expansion card by its edges and carefully remove it from theconnector on the expansion-card riser.6 If you are removing the card permanently, install a metal filler bracket overthe empty expansion-card slot opening and close the expansion-card latch.NOTE: You must install a filler bracket over an empty expansion slot tomaintain Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification of thesystem. The brackets also keep dust and dirt out of the system and aid inproper cooling and airflow inside the system.7 Close the system. See "Closing the System" on page 51.8 Reconnect the system to its electrical outlet and turn the system on,including any attached peripherals.
