DellPowerEdge R710 Technical Guide 50Screws are not included in the static rail kit because threaded racks are offered with a variety ofthread designations. Users must provide their own screws when mounting the static rails in threadedor 2-post racks.Other key factors governing proper rail selection include the spacing between the front and rearmounting flanges of the rack, the type and location of any equipment mounted in the back of therack such as power distribution units (PDUs), and the overall depth of the rack. See Table 15.Due to their reduced complexity and lack of need for CMA support, the static rails offer a greateradjustability range and an overall smaller footprint than the sliding rails.Table 15. Rail depth represents the minimum depth of the rail as measured fromthe rack front mounting flanges when the rail rear bracket is positioned all the way forward.14.3 Cable Management Arm (CMA)The optional cable management arm (CMA) for the R710 organizes and secures the cords and cablesexiting the back of the server and unfolds to allow the server to extend out of the rack withouthaving to detach the cables. Some key features of the R710 CMA include: Large U-shaped baskets support dense cable loads. An open vent pattern allows for optimal airflow. The CMA mounting is fully-reversible (can be mounted on either side) with no conversionrequired. Hook-and-loop straps are used rather than plastic tie wraps to eliminate the risk of cabledamage during cycling. A low-profile fixed tray is provided to both support and retain the CMA in its fully closedposition. The CMA and the tray mount without the use of tools using simple and intuitive snap-indesigns.14.4 Rack ViewThe R710 ReadyRails sliding rails are a drop-in design, meaning that the system is installed verticallyinto the rails by inserting the shoulder nuts on the sides of the system into the J-slots in the innerrail members with the rails in the fully extended position. See Figure 14.
