Dell warrants that the hardwareproducts it manufactures will be free from defects inmaterials and workmanship. The warranty term is threeyears beginning on the date of invoice, as described in thefollowing text.Damage due to shipping the products to you is coveredunder this warranty. Otherwise, this warranty does notcover damage due to external causes, including accident,abuse, misuse, problems with electrical power, servicingnot authorized by Dell, usage not in accordance withproduct instructions, failure to perform required preven-tive maintenance, and problems caused by use of partsand components not supplied by Dell.This warranty does not cover any items that are in one ormore of the following categories: software; externaldevices (except as specifically noted); accessories orparts added to a Dell system after the system is shippedfrom Dell; accessories or parts added to a Dell systemthrough Dell’s system integration department; accesso-ries or parts that are not installed in the Dell factory; orDellWare® products. Monitors, keyboards, and mice thatare Dell-branded or that are included on Dell’s standardprice list are covered under this warranty; all other moni-tors, keyboards, and mice (including those sold throughthe DellWare program) are not covered. Batteries forportable computers are covered only during the initialone-year period of this warranty.Coverage During Year OneDuring the one-year period beginning on the invoicedate, Dell will repair or replace products covered underthis limited warranty that are returned to Dell’s facility.To request warranty service, you or your network admin-istrator must call Dell’s Customer Technical Supportwithin the warranty period. Refer to the section titled“Contacting Dell” in the online Network Administrator’sGuide (installed on the server with the Intel LANDesk®Configuration Manager) to find the appropriate telephonenumber for obtaining customer assistance. If warrantyservice is required, Dell will issue a Return MaterialAuthorization Number. You must ship the products backto Dell in their original or equivalent packaging, prepayshipping charges, and insure the shipment or accept therisk of loss or damage during shipment. Dell will ship therepaired or replacement products to you freight prepaid ifyou use an address in the continental U.S. or Canada,where applicable. Shipments to other locations will bemade freight collect.NOTE: Before you ship the product(s) to Dell, back upthe data on the hard-disk drive in the product(s). Delldoes not accept liability for lost data or software.Dell owns all parts removed from repaired products. Delluses new and reconditioned parts made by various manu-facturers in performing warranty repairs and buildingreplacement products. If Dell repairs or replaces a prod-uct, its warranty term is not extended.Coverage During Years Two and ThreeDuring the second and third years of this limited war-ranty, Dell will provide, on an exchange basis and subjectto Dell’s Exchange Policy in effect on the date of theexchange, replacement parts for the Dell hardware prod-uct(s) covered under this limited warranty when a partrequires replacement.
