To help you meet your server management demands, Dell offersDell OpenManage™ systems management solutions for:• Deployment of one or many servers from a single console• Monitoring of server and storage health and maintenance• Update of system, operating system, and application softwareDell offers IT management solutions for organizations of all sizes—priced and sized appropriately, andsupported comprehensively.17.2 Server ManagementA Dell Systems Management and Documentation DVD and a Dell Management Console DVD areincluded with the product. ISO images are also available. A brief description of available content:• Dell Systems Build and Update Utility (SBUU): Dell Systems Build and Update Utility assists inOS install and pre-OS hardware configuration and updates.• Server Update Utility (SUU): This DVD has an inventory tool for managing updates tofirmware, BIOS, and drivers for either Linux® or Microsoft® Windows® varieties.• OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA): The OpenManage Server Administrator toolprovides a comprehensive, one-to-one (one console to one server) systems managementsolution, designed for system administrators to manage systems locally and remotely over anetwork. OMSA allows system administrators to focus on managing their entire network byproviding comprehensive one-to-one systems management.• Management Console: Dell IT Assistant (ITA) is also included, as well as tools to allow accessto our remote management products. These tools are Remote Access Service for iDRAC andthe Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) Utility.• Active Directory Snap-in Utility: The Active Directory Snap-in Utility provides an extensionsnap-in to the Microsoft Active Directory. This allows you to manage Dell specific ActiveDirectory objects. The Dell-specific schema class definitions and their installation are alsoincluded on the DVD.• Dell Systems Service Diagnostics Tools: Dell Systems Service and Diagnostics tools deliver thelatest Dell optimized drivers, utilities, and operating system-based diagnostics that you canuse to update your system.• eDocs: The section includes PDF files for PowerEdge systems, storage peripherals, and DellOpenManage™ software.• Dell Management Console (DMC): The Dell Management Console is a systems managementconsole that enables systems administrators to discover and inventory devices on yournetwork. It provides functions such as health and performance monitoring of networkeddevices, and patch management capabilities for Dell systems. DMC differs from the ITAssistant management console (described above) in that with DMC, value-add plug-ins thatenable advanced functionality can be purchased and added to the base DMC product.
