Installing an expansion card into the NIC slots on PCIe Base BoardmoduleSlots 31 and 40 are present on PCIe Base Board and can be used to install NICs.Prerequisites1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.2. Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system.3. Remove the front top cover.4. Remove the cooling fan cage assembly.5. Remove the air shroud .6. Remove the drives.7. Observe and disconnect the drive backplane cables from the connector on the system board and backplane.8. Slide out the drive cage.9. If required, remove the front PERC module.10. Remove the PSB top cover.11. Observe and disconnect the cables connected to PSB module from system board.Steps1. If installed, remove the filler bracket.NOTE: Store the filler bracket for future use. Filler brackets must be installed in empty expansion card slots to maintainFederal Communications Commission (FCC) certification of the system. The brackets also keep dust and dirt out of thesystem and aid in proper cooling and airflow inside the system.Figure 89. Removing the filler bracket2. Hold the card by edges, and align the card with the connector on the PBB board.3.
