Troubleshooting Your Enclosure 63• RAID controller modules• Enclosure midplane2 Ensure that all cables are properly connected and that there are no bent pins in the connector. If problems are encountered, see "Getting Help" on page 69.Troubleshooting Power SuppliesProblem• Enclosure-status indicators show a problem.• Power-supply fault indicators are lit.ActionCAUTION: Only trained service technicians are authorized to remove the enclosure cover and access any of thecomponents inside the enclosure. Before performing any procedure, see your Product Information Guide forcomplete information about safety precautions, working inside the enclosure and protecting againstelectrostatic discharge.1 Check that at least two physical disks are present in the enclosure. A minimum of two physical disksmust be installed. If they are not, install the minimum number of physical disks. If the problempersists, go to step 2.2 Turn off the enclosure and attached peripherals, and disconnect the enclosure from the electricaloutlet.3 Locate the faulty power supply. If the power supply's fault indicator is lit, see "Power Supply and Cooling Fan Features" on page 17.NOTICE: Power supply/cooling fan modules are hot-pluggable. The enclosure can operate on a single functioningpower supply; however, both modules must be installed to ensure proper cooling. A single power supply/coolingfan module can be removed from the enclosure for up to 5 minutes, provided the other module is functioningproperly. After 5 minutes, the enclosure will overheat and may cause an automatic thermal shutdown.4 Ensure that the power supply is properly installed by removing and re-installing it. See"Removing and Installing the Power Supply/Cooling Fan Module" on page 54.NOTE: After installing a power supply, allow several seconds for the enclosure to recognize the powersupply and determine if it is working properly.5 If the problem is resolved, skip the rest of this procedure. If the problem persists, remove the faulty power supply. See "Removing and Installing the PowerSupply/Cooling Fan Module" on page 54.6 Install a new power supply. See "Removing and Installing the Power Supply/Cooling Fan Module" onpage 54.If the problem persists, see "Getting Help" on page 69.
