Post Installation Tasks 334Post Installation TasksBefore using the storage array for the first time, complete a number of initialconfiguration tasks in the order shown. These tasks are performed using theMD Storage Manager (MDSM) software.NOTE: If Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is not used, initial configurationusing the management station must be performed on the same physical subnet as thestorage array. Additionally, during initial configuration, at least one network adaptermust be configured on the same IP subnet as the storage array’s default managementport (192.168.128.101 or 192.168.128.102). After initial configuration, the managementports are configured using MDSM and the management station’s IP address can bechanged back to the previous settings. Before You BeginBefore you begin configuring iSCSI, you must fill out the iSCSI configurationworksheet. Gathering this type of information about your network prior tostarting the configuration steps helps you to complete the process in less time.iSCSI Configuration TerminologyTable 4-1. Standard Terminology Used in iSCSI ConfigurationTerm DefinitionCHAP (Challenge HandshakeAuthentication Protocol)An optional security protocol used to controlaccess to an iSCSI storage system by restrictinguse of the iSCSI data ports on both the hostserver and storage array. For more informationon the types of CHAP authenticationsupported, see "Understanding CHAPAuthentication" on page 63.Host or host server A server connected to the storage array usingiSCSI ports.Host server port SCSI port on the host server used to connectit to the storage array.
