Troubleshooting Management Port Device Discovery IssuesIf your Ethernet management ports are properly configured but you are having problems discoveringstorage arrays or RAID controller modules, refer to the following table below.NOTE: Many device discovery problems are similar to those detailed in Table 1 for the Ethernet management port, although they occur during the discovery process.Table 6. Diagnosing Device Discovery ProblemsIssue/Problem RecommendationFirewall is blocking discovery ofmanagement portEnsure that TCP and UDP ports 2463 are open onyour firewall. MD Storage Manager uses both portsfor discovery and management. Verify that thefirewall settings in your local environment do notblock your ports.RAID controller modules are notrunningA RAID controller module cannot be added to themanagement view in MDSM until it has successfullycompleted its boot process. To verify that a RAID controller module hassuccessfully booted, perform one of the following:• Check the Enclosure Status LED at thefront of the storage array. (See Table 2, LEDEnclosure Status Values.)• Using the procedure described in Using aSerial Cable to Configure Your ManagementPort, connect to the serial port of the MDstorage array and observe your RAIDcontroller boot sequence. IfSODMainComplete is displayed, the RAIDcontroller has successfully booted and shouldbe visible to MDSM.RAID controller module inLockdown modeIf a RAID controller module detects certain errorconditions, it enters a Lockdown mode. While inthis mode, the Ethernet management ports willrespond to ping commands but a full managementsession cannot be established. Check theController Fault LED or System Identification IDLED on the RAID controller. If either LED is solidlylit (Controller Fault LED is amber or SystemIdentification ID LED is blue), contact your Delltechnical support representative.RAID controller module is inOffline modeSimilar to a Lockdown state, a RAID controllermodule may also go into Offline status. However, while in an Offline status, the Ethernetmanagement port will not respond to a pingcommand. Check the LEDs on the RAID controller
