Read and follow the safety instructionsthat came with the product.CAUTION: Use only physical drives that have been tested and approved for use with the physical-drive backplane.CAUTION: Combining SAS and SATA physical drives in the same RAID volume is not supported.CAUTION: When installing a physical drive, ensure that the adjacent drives are fully installed.Inserting a physical-drive carrier and attempting to lock its handle next to a partially installedcarrier can damage the partially installed carrier's shield spring and make it unusable.CAUTION: To prevent data loss, ensure that your operating system supports hot-swap driveinstallation. See the documentation supplied with your operating system.CAUTION: When a replacement hot swappable hard drive is installed and the system is poweredon, the hard drive automatically begins to rebuild. Make absolutely sure that the replacementhard drive is blank or contains data that you wish to have over-written. Any data on thereplacement hard drive is immediately lost after the hard drive is installed.1. If a physical-drive blank is installed in the physical-drive slot, remove it.2. Install a physical drive in the physical-drive carrier.3. Press the release button on the front of the physical-drive carrier and open the physical-drive carrierhandle.4. Insert the physical-drive carrier into the physical-drive slot until the carrier connects with thebackplane.5. Close the physical-drive carrier handle to lock the physical drive in place.21
