CameraThe camera allows you to capture photos and videos andsave them on the microSD card.To open the camera, press the camera button on the sideof your phone.To capture a picture:Touch and drag1. to the camera position .Press the camera button half-way to focus, and press2.it completely to capture the picture.To capture a video:Touch and drag1. to the video position .Frame the scene and touch2. to start recording.To stop recording, touch3. .Touch Screen GesturesThe multi-touch screen on your phone allows you to useyour finger to move the screen content, scroll throughmenus, view photos, and so on.Text InputThe onscreen keyboard allows you to enter text. Yourphone may support the Swype feature that allows you totype a word by sliding your finger continuously over thekeys on the screen.To type a word usingSwype, touch the first letterof the word and slide tothe following letters of theword without lifting yourfinger. Lift your finger afterthe last letter.To delete characters tothe left of the cursor,touch .NOTE: To learn how touse Swype, touch theSwype key and thentouch either Tutorial orMore Tips on the Tipsscreen.MessagingYou can use the Messaging feature to exchange text(SMS) and multimedia (MMS) messages.To send a new message:Touch1. New message.Type a name or mobile3.phone number in theTo field.Type a message in the4.Type to compose field.NOTE: Touchto include a subject,attach a file, or insertan emoticon.Touch5. Send.Wi-Fi and BluetoothTo turn on Wi-Fi and connect to a network:Touch1. to go to the Home screen.Touch2. and then touch Settings .Touch3. Wireless & networks→ Wi-Fi.The phone scans and lists the available Wi-Finetworks.Touch the network you want to connect to.4.To turn on Bluetooth and make your phonediscoverable:Touch1. to go to the Home screen.Touch2. and then touch Settings →Wireless & networks→ Bluetooth settings.Touch3. Bluetooth to turn on Bluetooth.Touch4. Discoverable to make your phonediscoverable.To pair with another Bluetooth device:Turn on Bluetooth.1.Touch the ID of the device you want to pair your2.phone with and follow the instructions on thescreen.InternetThe Browser allows you to view web pages andsearch for information on the Internet. You can open upto eight browser windows at a time and switch betweenthem.To open the browser, touchBrowser on the Homescreen or in the Launcher.To go to a web page, enterthe address in the Searchor type URL field, and thentouch .To scroll through a webpage, slide your fingeron the screen.To go to a link on a webpage, touch the link.To zoom-in or -out onsections of a web page, usethe stretch or pinch gestures.To open a new browser window, touch and thentouch New window .To switch to another browser window, touch andtouch Windows and then touch the window youwant to open.SearchYou can search for information and items on your phoneor on the Internet using Google Search.To start a search:Touch1. Google Searchon the Home screen or inthe Launcher.In the search box, type2.the keyword you want tosearch.A list of matching resultsappear on the screen.Touch a matched result3.or touch to searchthe Internet.To specify a location foryour search, touch onthe Google Search screen,and then touch to selectthe appropriate option.Android MarketThe Android Market provides access to applications andgames you can download and install on your phone.Open the Android Market to browse for free and paidapplications.NOTE: Ensure thatyou are connectedto the Internet beforeyou open the AndroidMarket.To open the AndroidMarket, touch Marketon the Home screen or inthe Launcher.To see the availableapplications, touch Appsand then touch a category.Touch to search themarket.To see the items that youhave already downloadedfrom the Android Market,touch Downloads.Additional InformationYou can sync contacts and personal content suchas music and pictures between your phone and acomputer using the Dell Mobile Sync tool. To installthe Dell Mobile Sync tool, run the Sync installeravailable on the microSD card.For more information about the features andadvanced options available on your phone, see theUser’s Manual available on the microSD card.The Dell Mobile Sync tool and User’s Manual are alsoavailable at support.dell.com/manuals.Launch ApplicationsThe Launcher displays all the available applicationson your phone, including any applications that youdownloaded and installed from Android Market orother sources.To open the Launcher,touch on the Homescreen.Flick the Launcherscreen to the left or rightto view all the availableapplications.To open an application,touch the appropriateicon.To create a shortcutto an application,touch and hold theapplication’s icon untilyour phone vibrates, andthen drag it to anotherlocation on the Homescreen. To switch between Swype and Android keyboard:Touch and hold a text field until the1. Edit text pop-upwindow appears.Touch2. Input method and then select the keyboard youprefer.NOTE: Messaging automatically converts a messageto an MMS if you send it to an e-mail address, add asubject, or attach a media file.Flick – Allows you to scrollthrough menus or pages, andmove sideways in screens.Slide a finger quickly in thedirection you want the screencontent to move.Pinch – Allows you to zoom-outon websites, maps, or pictures.Move two fingers close togetherto reduce the view of the screencontent.Stretch – Allows you to zoom-inon websites, maps, or pictures.Move two fingers away fromeach other to enlarge the view ofthe screen content.Screen OrientationThe screen reorients automatically depending on the way you hold the phone.Rotate the phone sideways to change the orientation of the screen from portrait to landscape mode, and vice versa.In landscape mode, the screen content expands to fit the screen.NOTE: The Home screens andLauncher screen always appearin portrait mode. Applicationsdownloaded from the AndroidMarket may not supportautomatic screen orientation tolandscape or portrait format. |
