Replacing the Heat SinkWARNING: Before working inside your computer, read the safety informationthat shipped with your computer and follow the steps in "Before Working InsideYour Computer" on page 7. After working inside your computer, follow theinstructions in "After Working Inside Your Computer" on page 9.For more safety best practices, see the Regulatory Compliance home page atdell.com/regulatory_compliance.ProcedureNOTE: The original thermal grease can be reused, if the original system boardand heat sink are reinstalled together. If either the system board or the heat sinkis replaced, use the thermal pad provided in the kit to make sure that thermalconductivity is achieved.1 Align the screws on the heat sink with the screw holes on the system board.2 In sequential order (indicated on the heat sink), tighten the captive screws thatsecure the heat sink to the system board.Postrequisites1 Replace the battery.
