DTS-ES Discrete 6.1 and Dolby Digital EX with Power Amps for 6 Channels High-Quality Surround Sound Reproduction• NEW High Resolution 32bit Floating Point DSP• 24 bit, 192 kHz High Resolution D/A Conversion Capability High-grade Up ConversionThis video transcoding (up-conversion) allows you to enjoy high picture quality fromall video sources connected to the AVR-685. Since composite and S-video signalsare up-converted into component video signals and output to the monitor, all youneed to do is connect a monitor that has component video input jacks. 3 Sets of Component Video InputsThe AVR-685 is equipped with 3 sets of component video inputs and 1set of monitoroutputs (all RCA terminals) Fully Discrete, Equal Power 6 Amplifier Channels, 110 Watts EachFront 110 W + 110 W (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7 % THD)Center 110 W (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7 % THD)Surround 110 W + 110 W (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7 % THD)Surround Back 110 W (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7 % THD)For optimum Dolby Digital and DTS reproduction, the AVR-685 features high quality, wideband audio amplification, providing 110 watts power output for each of the 6 mainchannels. A large capacity power supply includes a high current power transformeralong with discrete power output devices on all 6 amplifier channels for highest dynamicrange and superb reproduction clarity. DENON's Basic Design for High-Quality Sound Reproduction• Power Transformer for High Power DrivenThe chassis that supports the large transformer has beendesigned to absorb vibration, and the transformer is housedinside a highly rigid frame to secure it more solidly to thechassis. In addition, a cushioning material has been placedaround the core of the transformer to minimize interference onthe signal and enable more faithful reproduction of the originalsound. The AVR-685 inherits these low-noise design fromhigher-end models not to mention the use of sort ring.• Twin Drive RectifierDENON's Twin Drive Rectifier design uses two rectifying diodesin parallel to bring out the maximum potential of the largetransformer. Since the rectifiers recharge the large blockcapacitors at low impedance, they are able to supply amplecurrent to reproduce deep basses as well as sudden bursts ofsound from percussion or other musical instruments.• Large Aluminum Extruded HeatsinkDENON uses large heatsink made of extruded aluminum. Theyhave been placed in a design that ensures mostly uniformtemperatures throughout the heatsink so that the outputtransistors for all channels can be driven under uniform con-ditions. This in turn ensures that all channels respond withequal performance to the demands of the audio signals. Wide-Range Play Capability for DVD-Audio and Super Audio CDThe power amp circuits of the AVR-685 have been meticulously designed to reproducethe exceptionally high sound quality with wide frequency response from 10 Hz to 100 kHz. Cinema EqualizerThe sound from movie sources recorded in Dolby Digital, DTS or other formatsemphasizes high-frequency range due to a theater’s front speakers being placedbehind the movie screen. If this sound is reproduced in the home theater withoutcorrection, the high-frequency range is too strong. The AVR-685 features a CinemaEqualizer to correct these high-frequency components so that the sound is clearerand easier to listen to. (For Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Pro Logic IIx,Dolby Digital EX and DTS surround modes) Personal Memory Plus, for Easy OperationThe AVR-685 includes the Personal Memory Plus function that automaticallyremembers the surround mode you last used for each program source, so that youdo not need to select the mode again for that program.AVR-685DTS-ES and Dolby Digital EX A/V ReceiverN E W M O D E L I N F O R M A T I O N |
