Denon X4000 Factory Reset1.0 Save Settings1.1. Using IE to perform a SAVE of the config.dat file may or may not work, however using another browserwill generally work every time. Turn ON the receiver but select a non-network input. Enter the following URLinto your laptop/desktop web browser replacing the 192.168.1.xxx with your own unit's IP address. The URL iscase-sensitive.1.2. <192.168.1.xxx/SETUP/OTHERS/SAVE/f_config_save.asp>1.3. This dialog should be displayed on the laptop:1.4. If you are having difficulty SAVE(ing) a file, make sure to stop any network playback by first playingsomething on the network and then either pressing the Stop Playback (black square) or the ENTER button onthe remote for a few seconds. You may also need to set "Network Standby" to OFF (contrary to what theOwner's manual indicates).1.5. The config.dat file should be about 348kB for all models except the X4000/X4100W (952kB); however, it'sa good idea to confirm the AVR is actually saving data in the file as the file size will be 348kB or 952kB whetherit's all zeroes or filled with zeroes and some data. If it is all zeroes, it will not LOAD successfully. Use aWindows or Mac hex viewer to view the file and confirm whether it is all zeroes or not. (Tip: some wordprocessors will also display the HEX codes if you rename a copy of the file to “config.txt.”) If you do get a filewith all zeroes or if a file with data won't load properly, then set Network Standby to OFF/Off in Standby, cycle the AVR OFF/ON and then try a SAVE again which should result in a config.dat file with non-zero data.1.6. It's also a good idea to SAVE the settings prior to a firmware update even though firmware updatesgenerally don't change the system settings. If you are having difficulty using IE, try using Firefox or Chrome(see Post #2775 of the 2013 Denon AVR thread). If still no joy when trying to LOAD the config.dat file, trysetting IP Control to "Off in Standby", cycle the AVR to OFF, then ON again and try the LOAD. If yet still nojoy, try resetting the microprocessor and then do the LOAD again.
