I NTRODUCTIONGateway Lite BT enables music playback from aUSB storage or iPod through your vehicle’sentertainment system, using the buttons of thecar stereo for basic control.This device also offers handsfree mobile callhandling via the original buttons of the Head Unit(Radio).Gateway Lite BT is designed to give easy tomanage control, in cars where it is not possibleto display text, therefore only basic control isavailable (track skip functions and USB folderbrowsing).2. G ETTING STARTEDAt first please make sure that the vehiclecompatibility is correct.The Dension Gateway Lite BT is available inspecific versions for different vehicle types,therefore the exact operation and installationmay be different in each case.Warning!During the installation always make sure thatthe ignition key is removed from the car, theradio is switched off and that you have thesecurity code of the head unit (radio)available (if applicable).3. HOW TO REMOVE THE HEAD UNITFirst, carefully remove your vehicle's existingfactory fit head unit as per the factory instructionsand using the correct tools.In some cases, removing the head unit willrequire panel removal as well therefore werecommend to contact your vehicle's dealer orinstallation supplier / installer for moreinformation.3. F ITTING THE G ATEWAY H ARNESSOnce the head unit has been removed,disconnect the antenna cable (1) and then unclipthe main wiring connector from the head unit (2).This will differ in all makes and manufacturers.With the main radio cable removed, first connectthe Dension supplied cable to the original factorycable harness.In some cases there may be an add-inconnector. Remove the CD changer section andreplace with the loom supplied with the GatewayLite Blue. For further details please go to section6.Please note: The free brown lead on theGateway car harness needs to be connected tothe phone mute pin of the radio.Important installation notes for Volkswagenand Audi owners:The free black lead on the Gateway harnessmust be grounded / connected to the chassisof the radio. In case of BMW you don’t need toconnect this lead.4. CONNECTIONThe below diagram depicts how thedifferent modules connect to the GatewayLite BT.Connect the round iPod connector and USB tothe module and feed them through thedashboard to an appropriate location.Warning! Do not trap the cables, or leavethem in a position where they may becometrapped after refitting the head unit.Ensure the device is correctly fitted beforerunning the cable. Then, reconnect the Densionsupplied main radio connector to the rear of thehead unit.Connect the 12 way micro-fit (12 pin molex) tothe Car side of the Gateway Lite BT module.5. I NSTALLATIONFitting the microphoneThe microphone will work best when it is keptaway from all noise sources (open windows orspeaker) and close to the speaker. So the bestplace to ensure perfect sound is to install at thecentral light cluster or rear view mirror in thecenter of the wind screen. There are clips thathelp you to do this.The optimal place for the microphone dependson many factors, so it is recommended that youtry different installation places before finallymounting the microphone
