INTRODUCTIONThe Dension Gateway Lite is an easy to use multime-dia adapter that enables music playback on yourvehicle’s entertainment system from several sources.Control playback using the buttons of the car stereo.Gateway Lite is designed for cars without text display(except for BMW and some Toyota models), there-fore the control feature set is limited (track skippingand USB folder browsing).2. GETTING STARTEDFirst please make sure that the vehicle compatibilityis correct. The Dension Gateway Lite is available inseveral versions for different vehicle types, thereforeoperation and installation may differ accordingly.Warning!During the installation always make sure that theignition key is removed from the car, the radio isswitched off and that you have the security code ofthe head unit (radio) at hand (if applicable).3. HOW TO REMOVE THE HEAD UNITFirst, carefully remove your vehicle's existing factoryfit head unit as per the factory instructions and usingthe correct tools.In some cases, removing the head unit will requireremoving panels so we recommend to contact yourvehicle's dealer or installation supplier for moreinformation.3. FITTING THE GATEWAY HARNESSOnce the head unit has been removed, disconnectthe antenna cable (1) and the main harness connect-or from the head unit (2). This is manufacturer de-pendent.When the main harness is removed, connect theDension supplied cable to the original factory cableharness.In some cases there may be an add-in connector.Remove the CD changer section and replace with theloom supplied with the Gateway Lite. For furtherdetails please go to section 6.Please note: The free brown lead on the Gateway carharness does not need to be connected.Important installation note for Volkswagen andAudi owners:The free black lead on the Gateway harness must begrounded/connected to the chassis. (You don’t needto connect this lead on a BMW.)4. CONNECTIONSources to be connected to the Gateway Lite:Connect the round iPod connector (requires anoptional iPod connection cable – IPDC1GW) and theUSB to the Gateway and feed them through thedashboard to the desired place.Warning! Do not trap the cables, or locate them in aposition where they may become trapped afterrefitting the head unit.Make sure that the device is correctly fitted beforerunning the cable. Then, reconnect the Densionsupplied harness to the rear of the head unit.Connect the 12 way micro-fit (12 pin molex) to theCar side of the Gateway Lite module.5. TEST AND REFITBefore you refit the head unit, test the Gateway Litewith your car audio, making sure all connections arecorrect and that you have full functionality.Note: If during testing you notice any changes orinconsistencies in the way the car's electrical systemoperates, disconnect the Gateway product immedi-ately and consult your dealer.After having tested all functions, refit your head unit.Take care not to trap any wires or the Densionproduct. We supply cable ties to mount the Gateway.Please mount the module away from heat or dampsurfaces.6. CAR-SPECIFIC CONNECTORSCars with mini ISO connectorBMWs with 17-pin connectorCars with Quadlock connector (not break-in)If the CDC connector has a separate housing7.
