For assistance with installation,please refer to the Installation Guide.2. G ETTING STARTEDBefore you start, please check that your iPod isup to date. You can get the latest iPod firmwareupdates via iTunes.3. O PERATIONSwitch your car radio ON and select CD changeras source. This is usually done by pressing theCDC or CD button, or pressing the CD buttontwice. Depending on your system, you may needto select AUX (Opel) or MEDIA (VW BAP) as asource instead of CD changer. If in doubt consultthe audio section of your car’s instructionmanual.Connect your iPod to the Gateway. It will startplaying the first song on the device. In case theGateway has been in use earlier, music willcontinue from the last played point. Switching offthe car or the radio will stop playback and put thesource devices to stand-by.Next / Back and Random / Repeat / Scan buttons(radio dependent) work as expected.If no iPod is connected then CD5/Track99 orAUX GW is displayed and the time counter is justcounting up.4. ABOUT SOURCESAUXIn AUX mode the radio displays Track 99 orAUX GW.iPodIn case of using an iPod / iPhone, there are twodifferent modes available iPod User Interface (iPod UI) iPod Gateway Interface (iPod GW)In iPod UI mode the original user interface of theiPod remains active (i.e. the click wheel stillworks) so you can use it for browsing as normal.During playback the Radio usually displays CD5or iPod UI. The shown track numbers and timecounter are not synchronized with the iPod. Werecommend to use this mode if you want use theoriginal iPod functionality.In iPod GW mode (default) the click wheel orthe touch screen (iPhone, touch) is disabled,iPod displays the currently played songinformation, except on touch and iPhone where‘Accessory attached’ message is displayed.iPod playback control is only possible from thecar stereo (Head Unit) or steering wheel. In thismode the track number or id3 tag info and thetime is displayed on the radio display (Radiodependent).The effects of the CD buttons (disc selector) ondifferent iPod modes are:CD# iPod GW iPod UICD1 Scan Playlists Scan PlaylistCD2 Scan Artist -CD3 Scan Albums Scan AlbumsCD4 Play All Scan ChaptersCD5 Parking disc Parking discCD6 Source / Menu Source / MenuFor iPod control, the following operating modesdescribed above can be used by selecting thecorresponding CD.After selecting the CD, use Next / Back buttonsto select and play the playlist, artist or album andpress FF (Fast Forward) to play all songs byselected playlist, artist and album.Dension GW returns to CD5 after 30 seconds ofinactivity in any other CD mode.Please note: if your vehicle does not have textcapability, select CD6 to access the followingsource modes, use Next / Back buttons forbrowsing and press FF (Fast Forward) to select:Track Source#1 AUX Input#2 iPod UI#3 iPod GW#9 CDC5. ENABLING T EXT DISPLAYOn iGateway the Text display mode is activatedby default except on BMW where the text can bedisplayed on several screens (Radio, MID orNavigation) therefore it needs to be set after theinstallation. In order to enter the Text selectormode, follow the recommended steps below: Turn the Radio ON and select Gateway Disconnect all devices from the Gatewayand wait till CD5/Track99 appears Keep the FF (Fast Forward) button pressedfor longer than 10 seconds, then release.The display turns to Disc 1, Track 01 withinthree seconds (Text selector mode) By pressing the Next track button, you cantoggles between Track 02-04 which setdifferent screen modes (e.g. MID, Radio).Please note: Track 01 is the non-TextMode When you have moved the text to theposition you prefer, press FF (FastForward) to confirm. Or, by pressing theREW (Rewind) you can exit Text selectorwithout making any changes If the text selection procedure was correctAUX GW will appear on the display6. SPECIFIC OPERATION GUIDESVW Single CAN (GW17VC1)How to controlThe menu of the iGateway is displayed on thecentral display on the dashboard (between thetwo main instruments). Due to the capabilities ofyour car, the iGateway menu is not visible on theradio screen.The menu can be selected and controlled fromthe steering wheel control or stalk control,whichever is available.You can navigate to the menu of the iGatewaywith the Menu button on the steering wheel or byfirst a long press of the Up button on the stalkcontrol to access the top menu of the car andthen navigating to the Gateway screens by theUp / Down buttons.Browsing is possible by the Up / Down buttons, ashort press of OK enters the menu and a longpress of OK returns to the previous level in themenu |
