For propane/LP gas openpropane/LP supply tank valve.3. Make sure control knob of heater is in the OFFposition.4. Check all joints from equipment shutoff valveto thermostat gas valve (see Figure 17 or 18).Apply a noncorrosive leak detection fluid toall joints. Bubbles forming show a leak.5. Correct all leaks at once.6. Light heater (see Operating Heater, page 14).Check all other internal joints for leaks.7. Turn off heater (see To Turn Off Gas to Appli-ance, page 15).8. Be sure to smell nextto the floor because some gas is heavier thanair and will settle on the floor.WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS• Do not try to light any appliance.• Do not touch any electric switch; do notuse any phone in your building.• Immediately call your gas supplier froma neighborʼs phone. Follow the gassupplierʼs instructions.• If you cannot reach your gas supplier, callthe fire department.C. Use only your hand to push in or turn thegas control knob. Never use tools. If theknob will not push in or turn by hand, donʼttry to repair it, call a qualified service tech-nician or gas supplier. Force or attemptedrepair may result in a fire or explosion.D. Do not use this appliance if any part hasbeen under water. Immediately call aqualified service technician to inspect theappliance and to replace any part of thecontrol system and any gas control whichhas been under water.LIGHTINGINSTRUCTIONS1. STOP! Read the safety informationabove.2. Make sure equipment shutoff valve is fullyopen.3. Turn control knob clockwise to theOFF position.4. Wait five (5) minutes to clear out any gas.Then smell for gas, including near the floor.If you smell gas, STOP! Follow “B” in thesafety information above. If you donʼt smellgas, go to the next step.
