Dirtor other fine particles enter theheater and burn causing briefpatches of orange flame.Figure 23 shows a correct burner flame pattern.Figure 24 shows an incorrect burner flame pattern. The incorrect burner flame pattern shows yellowtipping of the flame. It also shows the flame higherthan 1/2 the glass panel height. If burner flame pattern is incorrect, as shown inFigure 24• turn heater off (see To Turn Off Gas to Appli-ance, page 15)• see Troubleshooting, page 18Figure 23 - Correct Burner Flame PatternYellowTippingFigure 24 - Incorrect Burner Flame Pattern1/2 GlassHeightBlueFlame1/2 GlassHeightCLEANING ANDMAINTENANCEWARNING: Turn off heaterand let cool before cleaning.CAUTION: You must keepcontrol areas, burner and circu-lating air passageways of heaterclean. Inspect these areas ofheater before each use. Haveheater inspected yearly by aqualified service person. Heatermay need more frequent clean-ing due to excessive lint fromcarpeting, bedding material, pethair, etc.WARNING: Failure to keepthe primary air opening(s) ofthe burner(s) clean may result insooting and property damage.ODS/PILOT AND BURNERUse a vacuum cleaner, pressurized air or small, soft bristled brush to clean.BURNER PILOT AIR INLETThe primary air inlet holes allow the properamount of air to mix with the gas. This provides aclean burning flame. Keep these holes clear of dust, dirt and lint. Clean these air inlet holes prior to eachheating season. Blocked air holes will create soot.We recommend that you clean the unit every threemonths during operation and have heater inspectedyearly by a qualified service person. We also recommend that you keep the burnertube and pilot assembly clean and free of dust anddirt. To clean these parts we recommend usingcompressed air no greater than 30 PSI. Your localcomputer store, hardware store or home centermay carry compressed air in a can. You can use avacuum cleaner in the blow position. If using com-pressed air in a can, please follow the directions onthe can. If you donʼt follow directions on the can,you could damage the pilot assembly.
