Have heaterinspected yearly by a qualifiedservice person. Heater may needmore frequent cleaning due toexcessive lint from carpeting, pethair, bedding material, etc.WARNING: Failure to keepthe primary air opening(s) ofthe burner(s) clean may result insooting and property damage.BURNER INJECTOR HOLDER ANDPILOT AIR INLET HOLEThe primary air inlet holes allow the proper amountof air to mix with the gas. This provides a cleanburning flame. Keep these holes clear of dust, dirt, lint and pet hair. Clean these air inlet holes prior toeach heating season. Blocked air holes will createsoot. We recommend that you clean the unit everythree months during operation and have heaterinspected yearly by a qualified service person. We also recommend that you keep the burnertube and pilot assembly clean and free of dust anddirt. To clean these parts we recommend usingcompressed air no greater than 30 PSI. Your localcomputer store, hardware store or home centermay carry compressed air in a can. You can use avacuum cleaner in the blow position. If using com-pressed air in a can, please follow the directions onthe can. If you donʼt follow directions on the can,you could damage the pilot assembly.1. Shut off the unit, including the pilot. Allowthe unit to cool for at least thirty minutes.2. Inspect burner, pilot and primary air inlet holes oninjector holder for dust and dirt (see Figure 39).3. Blow air through the ports/slots and holes inthe burner.4. Check the injector holder located at the endof the burner tube again. Remove any largeparticles of dust, dirt, lint or pet hair with asoft cloth or vacuum cleaner nozzle.5. Blow air into the primary air holes on theinjector holder.6. In case any large clumps of dust have now beenpushed into the burner repeat steps 3 and 4.Clean the pilot assembly also. A yellow tip on thepilot flame indicates dust and dirt in the pilot as-sembly. There is a small pilot air inlet hole abouttwo inches from where the pilot flame comes outof the pilot assembly (see Figure 40). With the unitoff, lightly blow air through the air inlet hole. Youmay blow through a drinking straw if compressedair is not available.BurnerTubePilot AssemblyPilot AirInlet HolePorts/SlotsBurnerTubeInjectorHolderPrimary AirInlet HolesFigure 39 - Injector Holder On OutletBurner TubeFigure 40 - Pilot Inlet Air HoleLOGS• If you remove logs for cleaning, refer to Install-ing Logs, page 17, to properly replace logs.• Replace log(s) if broken or chipped (dime-sizedor larger).MAIN BURNERPeriodically inspect all burner flame holes with theheater running. All slotted burner flame holes shouldbe open with yellow flame present. All round burnerflame holes should be open with a small blue flamepresent. Some burner flame holes may becomeblocked by debris or rust, with no flame present. Ifso, turn off heater and let cool. Remove blockage.Blocked burner flame holes will create soot.
