A flexible gas line is pro-vided to allow accessibility from the fireplace (seeFigure 24). The flexible gas supply line connection tothe equipment shutoff valve should be accessible.OFFPILOTONINSTALLATIONConnecting Fireplace to Gas Supply (Cont.)Checking Gas ConnectionsFigure 24 - Attaching Flexible Gas Lines Together5. Attach the flexible gas line to gas supply (see Figure 24). Checktightness of flexible gas line attached to gas regulator of fire-place (see Figure 24).6. Check all gas connections for leaks. See Checking Gas Con-nections.7. Replace log base assembly back into fireplace. Feed flexible gasline into fireplace base area while replacing log base assembly. Makesure the entire flexible gas line is in fireplace base area. Correct all leaks at once.WARNING: Never use an open flame to check fora leak. Apply a noncorrosive leak detection fluid toall joints. Bubbles forming show a leak. Correct allleaks at once.CAUTION: Make sure external regulator has beeninstalled between propane/LP supply and fireplace.See guidelines underConnecting Fireplace to GasSupply, page 13.Pressure Testing gas Supply Piping systemTest Pressures In Excess Of 1/2 PSIG (3.5 kPa)1. Disconnect fireplace with its appliance main gas valve (con-trol valve) and equipment shutoff valve from gas supply pip-ing system. Pressures in excess of 1/2 psig will damage fire-place regulator.2. Cap off open end of gas pipe where equipment shutoff valvewas connected.3. Pressurize supply piping system by either opening propane/LPsupply tank valve for propane/LP gas or opening main gas valvelocated on or near gas meter for natural gas, or using com-pressed air.4. Check all joints of gas supply piping system. Apply noncorrosiveleak detection fluid to all joints. Bubbles forming show a leak.5. Correct all leaks at once.6. Reconnect fireplace and equipment shutoff valve to gas sup-ply. Check reconnected fittings for leaks.CHECKING GAS CONNECTIONS
