Other standards govern the use of fuelgases and heating products for specific uses.Your local authority can advise you aboutthese. The primary purpose of constructionheaters is to provide temporary heating ofbuildings under construction, alteration or re-pair. Properly used, the heater provides safeeconomical heating. Products of combustionare vented into the area being heated.We cannot foresee every use which may bemade of our heaters. Your local authorities can advise youabout these.Carbon Monoxide Poisoning: Somepeople are more affected by carbon monox-ide than others. Early signs of carbon mon-oxide poisoning resemble the flu, with head-aches, dizziness, and/or nausea. If you havethese signs, the heater may not be workingproperly. Get fresh air at once! Check forproper ventilation and have heater serviced.WARNINGSPropane Gas: Propane gas is odorless.An odor-making agent is added to propanegas. The odor helps you detect a propane gasleak. However, the odor added to propanegas may fade. Propane gas may be presenteven though no odor exists.Make certain you read and understand allWarnings. Keep this manual for reference.It is your guide to safe and proper operationof this heater.• Install and use heater with care. Followall local ordinances and codes. In theabsence of local ordinances and codes,refer to the Standard for Storage andHandling of Liquefied Petroleum Gas,ANSI/NFPA 58 and the Natural Gas In-stallation Code, CAN/CGA B149.2. Thisinstructs on the safe storage and handlingof propane gases.• Approved by the New York City FireDepartment under Certificate of Ap-proval #4953. To be used only at con-struction site with applicable New YorkCity codes, regulations, rules, directives,permits, etc.• This product has been approved for usein the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.• Use only propane gas set up for vaporwithdrawal.• Provide adequate ventilation. Before us-ing heater, provide at least a 2.5 squarefoot opening of fresh, outside air. Thisheater produces carbon monoxide, whichis listed by the State of California as areproductive toxin under Proposition 65.• For indoor use only. Do not use heateroutdoors.• Keep heater away from strong drafts, wind,water spray, rain, or dripping water.• Do not use heater in occupied dwellingsor in living or sleeping quarters.• Do not use heater in a basement or be-low ground level. Propane gas is heavierthan air. If a leak occurs, propane gas maysink to the lowest possible level.• Keep appliance area clear and free fromcombustible materials, gasoline, paintthinner, and other flammable vapors andliquids. Dust is combustible. Do not useheater in areas with high dust content.• Minimum heater clearances from com-bustibles: Sides: 3 feet, Top: 6 feet.• Keep heater at least six feet from pro-pane tank(s).• Keep propane tank(s) below 100° F.• Use only the hose and factory presetregulator provided with the heater.• Check heater for damage before each use.Do not use a damaged heater.• Check hose before each use of heater. Ifhighly worn or cut, replace with hosespecified by manufacturer before usingheater.• Do not alter heater. Keep heater in itsoriginal state.• Do not use heater if altered.• Locate heater on stable and level surfaceif heater is hot or operating.• Not intended for use on finished floors.• Never block air inlet (bottom of shell) orair outlet (around top of shell) of heater.• Do not leave heater unattended.• Keep children and animals away fromheater.• Never move, handle, or service a hot oroperating heater. Severe burns may re-sult. You must wait 15 minutes after turn-ing heater off.• To prevent injury, wear gloves when han-dling heater.• Never attach duct work to heater.• Turn off propane supply to heater whennot in use.• Use only original replacement parts. Thisheater must use design-specific parts. Donot substitute or use generic parts. Im-proper replacement parts could causeserious or fatal injuries. |
