Check your local codes. Use pipe of 1/2"diameter or greater to allow proper gas volume toburner system. If pipe is too small, undue loss ofvolume will occur.Installation must include an equipment shutoff valve, union, andplugged 1/8" NPT tap. Locate NPT tap within reach for test gauge hookup. NPT tap must be upstream from burner system (see Figure 40).IMPORTANT: Install main gas valve (equipment shutoff valve) inan accessible location. The main gas valve is for turning on andshutting off the gas to the appliance.Check your building codes for any special requirements for locatingequipment shutoff valve to stoves.STOVE AND DIRECT-VENTBURNER SYSTEMINSTALLATIONINSTALLING GAS PIPING TO STOVE/BURNER SYSTEM LOCATIONInstallation Items NeededBefore installing stove and burner system, make sure you have theitems listed below.• external regulator (supplied by installer)• piping (check local codes)• sealant (resistant to propane/LP gas)• equipment shutoff valve *• test gauge connection *• sediment trap• tee joint• pipe wrench• approved flexible gas line with gas connector (if allowed by lo-cal codes) (not provided)* A CSA design-certified equipment shutoff valve with 1/8" NPT tapis an acceptable alternative to test gauge connection. Purchase theCSA design-certified equipment shutoff valve from your dealer. For propane/LP connections only, the installer must supply anexternal regulator. The external regulator will reduce incoming gaspressure. You must reduce incoming gas pressure to between 11 and14 inches of water. If you do not reduce incoming gas pressure, burner system regulator damage could occur. Install external regu-lator with the vent pointing down as shown in Figure 39. Pointingthe vent down protects it from freezing rain or sleet.WARNING: A qualified installer or service personmust connect burner system to gas supply. Follow alllocal codes.CAUTION: For propane/LP units, never connectburner system directly to the propane/LP supply. Thisburner system requires an external regulator (notsupplied). Install the external regulator between theburner system and propane/LP supply. Ifyou have conflicting gas types, do not install burner system. Seedealer where you purchased the stove and burner system for properburner system according to your gas type. Conversion kits are alsoavailable for these models, see Accessories on page 38.IMPORTANT: If installing gas conversion kit, do so at this time.Be sure to follow all installation instructions included withconversion kit.Figure 40 - Gas Connection* The CSA design-certified equipment shutoff valve may be sup-plied with the appliance or you can purchase it from your dealer.CSA Design-CertifiedEquipment Shutoff Valve with1/8" NPT Tap*3" MinimumApproved FlexibleGas LinePipe Nipple Cap Tee JointSediment Trap/Drip LegPropane/LP - FromExternal Regulator(11" W.C. to 14" W.C.Pressure)Natural - From GasMeter (5" W.C. to10.5" W.C.
