Other standards govern the useof fuel gases and heating products for spe-cific uses. Your local authority can adviseyou about these. The primary purpose ofconstruction heaters is to provide temporaryheating of buildings under construction, al-teration or repair. Properly used, the heaterprovides safe economical heating. Productsof combustion are vented into the area beingheated.We cannot foresee every use which may bemade of our heaters. CHECK WITHYOUR LOCAL FIRE SAFETY AU-THORITY IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONSABOUT HEATER USE.Other standards govern the use of fuel gasesand heat producing products for specificuses. Your local authorities can advise youabout these.Carbon Monoxide Poisoning: Somepeople are more affected by carbon monox-ide than others. Early signs of carbon mon-oxide poisoning resemble the flu, with head-aches, dizziness, and/or nausea. If you havethese signs, the heater may not be workingproperly. Get fresh air at once! Check forproper ventilation and have heater serviced.WARNING ICON G 001WARNINGSPropane Gas: Propane gas is odorless.An odor-making agent is added to propanegas. The odor helps you detect a propane gasleak. However, the odor added to propanegas may fade. Propane gas may be presenteven though no odor exists.Make certain you read and understand allWarnings. Keep this manual for reference.It is your guide to safe and proper operationof this heater.• Install and use heater with care. Fol-low all local ordinances and codes. Inthe absence of local ordinances andcodes, refer to the Standard for Stor-age and Handling of Liquefied Petro-leum Gas, ANSI/NFPA 58 and the Natu-ral Gas Installation Code, CAN/CGAB149.2. This instructs on the safe stor-age and handling of propane gases.• Use only the hose and factory presetregulator provided with the heater.• Use only propane gas set up for vaporwithdrawal.• Provide adequate ventilation. Beforeusing heater, provide at least a three-square-foot opening of fresh, outsideair. This heater produces carbon mon-oxide, which is listed by the State ofCalifornia as a reproductive toxin un-der Proposition 65.• For indoor use only. Do not use heateroutdoors.• Do not use heater in occupied dwell-ings or in living or sleeping quarters.• Do not use heater below ground level.Propane gas is heavier than air. If a leakoccurs, propane gas may sink to thelowest possible level.• Keep appliance area clear and free fromcombustible materials, gasoline, paintthinner, and other flammable vaporsand liquids. Do not use heater in areaswith high dust content.• Minimum heater clearances from com-bustibles: Sides: 6 feet, Top: 5 feet.• Keep heater at least six feet from pro-pane tank(s).• Keep propane tank(s) below 100° F.• Check heater for damage before eachuse. Do not use a damaged heater.• Check hose before each use of heater.If highly worn or cut, replace beforeusing heater.• Locate heater on stable and level sur-face if heater is hot or operating.• Not intended for use on finished floors.• Never block air inlet (bottom of shell)or air outlet (around top of shell) ofheater.• Keep heater away from strong drafts,water spray, rain, or dripping water.• Do not leave heater unattended.• Keep children and animals away fromheater.• Never move, handle, or service a hotor operating heater. Severe burns mayresult. Wait 20 minutes after turningheater off.• To prevent injury, wear gloves whenhandling heater.• Never attach duct work to heater.• Do not alter heater. Keep heater in itsoriginal state.• Do not use heater if altered.• Turn off propane supply to heater whennot in use.• Use only original replacement parts.This heater must use design-specificparts. Do not substitute or use genericparts. Improper replacement parts couldcause serious or fatal injuries. |
