If readjustment is necessary, you canrestore the proper air-to-gas ratio by loosening theair shutter screw and rotating the air shutter untilthe proper flame setting is achieved (the shutter'snormal setting is fully open. Do not forget toretighten the air shutter screw.Figure 55 - Burner Flame PatternsFigure 54 - Air Shutter AdjustmentAir ShutterAirOpening BurnerVenturiTubeBurner Gas LineCORRECTINCORRECTCLOSESHUTTERINCORRECTOPEN SHUTTERShort, Sharp, Blowing FlameLong, Blue Flame withYellow TipsLong, Uneven, Yellow FlameFirebox BottomAdjustmentScrewOrificeBURNER REMOVALCAUTION: Before proceed-ing to open glass door or handlelogs, make sure the entire unitis cool.1. Remove the 2 screws holding burner to hearthpan.DECORATIVE FACINGAny noncombustible material may be used forfacing (glass, tile, brick, etc.) as long as the properclearances are observed (see Clearances, page 6).IMPORTANT: Louvered openings must not be ob-structed, and upper and lower panels must remainremovable for servicing. Use only heat-resistant,noncombustible mortar or adhesive when securingfacing material.Note: Combustible material, such as wood, thathas been fireproofed is not considered noncom-bustible.PILOT/ELECTRODEASSEMbLy ADjUSTMENTThe pilot assembly is factory preset for the properflame height. Alteration to these settings may haveoccurred during shipping and handling. If this is thecase, some minor adjustment may be necessary andshould be done by a qualified technician. To accessthe pilot assembly, the glass door must be opened. The proper settings for the thermopile height shouldbe at a distance of 3/8" to 1/2" from the pilot flameas shown in Figure 52.The electrode is installed at the factory for properpositioning. However, alterations to the positionmay have occurred due to shipping and handling. These settings may need adjustment and must bedone by a qualified technician. The correct positionand height is as shown in Figure 53.INSTALLATIONContinued
