Set flame adjustment knob to any levelbetween HI and LO.CAUTION: Do not try to ad-just heating levels by using theequipment shutoff valve.WARNING: Make sure theremote selector switch is in theOFF position when you are awayfrom home for long periods oftime. Heater will come on auto-matically with selector switch inthe ON position.Note: Home owners generally prefer to op-erate their heater with the chimney damperclosed. This will put all the heat into the room.However, there may be times you will desirethe full flames of the HI heat setting but willfind the heat output excessive. You can openthe chimney damper (if you have one) fully orpartially to release some of the heat.WARNING: Damper handlewill be hot if heater has beenrunning.1. STOP! Read the safety information onpage 19.2. Make sure equipment shutoff valve is fullyopen.3. Set switch to OFF position.4. Press in and turn control knob clockwiseto the OFF position (see Figure 28).5. Wait five (5) minutes to clear out any gas.Then smell for gas, including near the floor.If you smell gas, STOP! Follow “B” in thesafety information, page 19. If you don’tsmell gas, go to the next step.6. Press in and turn control knob counter-clockwise to the PILOT position.Press in control knob for five (5) seconds(see Figure 29).Note: You may be running this heater forthe first time after hooking up to gas sup-ply. If so, the control knob may need to bepressed in for 30 seconds or more.
