www.desatech.com 110021-01H32OPTIONAL POSITIONINGOF THERMOSTATSENSING BULBFOR MASONRY AND FACTORY-BUILT METAL FIREPLACEIf your log set cycles to pilot, but the room tem-perature drops to a lower than ideal comfort levelbefore the log set comes back on, you may wantto reposition the thermostat sensing bulb. The thermostat sensing bulb is located near thegas valve assembly on the mounting bracket. This location allows the thermostat to keep theroom temperature at an ideal comfort level formost fireplace applications. For positioning thethermostat sensing bulb elsewhere, an adhesive-backed mounting clip is available.1. Locate the gas valve assembly and thermostatsensing bulb (see Figure 43).2. Gently pull thermostat sensing bulb free fromthe retaining clamp.IMPORTANT: Do not force or bend thethermostat sensing bulb or capillary.3. The thermostat sensing bulb may be locatedto the lower right front side of fireplace. De-termine location of sensing bulb, but donot mount sensing bulb until step 4. If youhave a masonry fireplace, see Figure 45for location. If you have a factory-builtmetal fireplace, see Figure 46 for location. If your fireplace has glass doors, positionsensing bulb directly behind door gap on rightbottom side (see Figure 47).4. The mounting clip must be a minimum of 3"from bottom of fireplace to prevent crimpingof capillary. Once you have decided on alocation, clean the area thoroughly. Removethe paper backing from the adhesive on backof mounting clip. Press the clip into the newlocation so that the thermostat sensing bulbwill be positioned vertically with the capillaryat the bottom (see Figure 48, page 33). Slidethe thermostat sensing bulb into the clip.IMPORTANT: Do not crimp capillary.Figure 44 - Adhesive-backed Mounting ClipAdhesive-backedMounting ClipFigure 45 - Locating Thermostat SensingBulb on Masonry FireplaceThermostatSensing BulbThermostatSensing BulbFigure 46 - Locating Thermostat SensingBulb on Factory-built Metal FireplaceAdhesive-backedMounting ClipGlass DoorsFigure 47 - Installing Thermostat SensingBulb Behind Glass DoorsThermostatSensing BulbAdhesive-backedMounting ClipFigure 43 - Location of Gas ValveAssembly and Thermostat Sensing BulbGas ValveAssemblyThermostatSensing Bulb RetainingClamp
