The wall switchis to be connected to the incoming 120 volt regular householdwiring that supplies the electricity to the fireplace.OPTIONAL REMOTE CONTROLINSTALLATION (MODEL WRC)Note: If using optional wireless hand-held remote control, the wallswitch must be in the ON position to be operational. The remote controlthen becomes the switching mechanism for fireplace operation.1. Open lower louver panel.2. The WRC model receiver does not require a battery. Thereceiver can be installed by first plugging the short extensioncord into the fireplace receptacle. Then plug the receiver unitinto the extension cord. Finally plug the ignition module pluginto the receiver unit (see Figure 40).3. Activate the remote handset battery by removing the insulatingtab on the back of the handset (see Figure 41). The battery isincluded pre-installed.4. Once the battery is activated the unit is ready to use.5. Let cool before installingbrick liner.You may purchase brick liner from your local retailer or see Ac-cessories, page 34.CAUTION: Always handle brick panels with twohands. Do not force brick panels into place. Exces-sive force will break brick panels.1. Remove top and bottom louvers to allow access to doorlatches.2. Unlock door latches and open glass door. See Removing GlassDoor, steps 1 and 2, page 21.3. Carefully remove lava rock and ember material. Remove log/grate assembly by unscrewing grate from plenum. The twologs under the grate are attached to burner. DO NOT attemptto remove.4. Remove screws that attach plenum to burner to remove plenum.5. Remove three screws from deflector shield on the inside topof firebox. Set shield and screws aside.6. Install rear brick panel first. Rest bottom edge of panel on backedge of burner assembly (see Figure 39).7. Install left side brick panel by sliding it between the burnerassembly and the side of the firebox (see Figure 39).8. Install the right brick panel using the same method describedin step 6 for left brick panel.9. Replace deflector shield using screws removed in step 4.10. Using scews removed in step 4, replace plenum and attach toburner.11. Using screws removed in step 3, replace log/grate assembly. Be care-ful when replacing log/grate assembly not to chip logs on burner.12. Install lava rock and glowing embers. See Installing Lava Rockand Glowing Embers, page 21.13. Close glass door and lock latches on top and bottom of doorand replace screen. See Removing Glass Door, steps 5 and 6,page 21.14.
