This isa normal and temporary situation that is notcause for alarm. However, you may want toprovide extra ventilation to the room duringthis time.To ensure proper curing of the logs:• Ignite a 2" flame and maintain it for 1 hour.• Burn the logs in consecutive 1 hour periodsraising the flame an additional 2" to fullflame height for a total of three hours.OPTIONAL HAND-HELDREMOTE OPERATIONNote: All remote control accessories mustbe purchased separately. Follow instructionsincluded with the remote control.NOTICE: You must light the pilotbefore using the hand-held re-mote control unit. See LightingInstructions, page 12.After lighting, let pilot flame burn for about oneminute. Turn control knob to ON position. Adjustflame adjustment knob anywhere between HIand LO. Slide the selector switch to the RE-MOTE position.Note: The burner may light if hand-held remotewas on when selector switch was last turnedoff. You can now turn the burner on and off withthe hand-held remote control unit.oPeraTIonContinuedIMPORTANT: Do not leave the selector switchin the REMOTE or ON position when the pilotis not lit. This will drain the battery.ON/OFF SERIES (MODEL HRC201)Hold the control button on the hand-heldremote until burner turns on. Hold the controlbutton again until burner turns off.TO LOCK press both buttons on hand-heldremote control until light stops flashing. Hand-held remote control is now locked. If the fireis on it will be turned off automatically. In thelocked state, the light will not light up whenany button is pressed.TO UNLOCK press both buttons togetheron hand-held remote control until the lightstops flashing. The hand-held remote is nowunlocked.GWMS2 WALL MOUNTEDSWITCH (OPTIONAL)This wall switch works just like the conven-tional light switch. Flip the switch up for onand down for off.Note: Make sure that this switch is not in aposition to be mistaken for a light switch. Thismay result in the log set being inadvertentlyturned on without the proper precautionsbeing taken. See installation instructions onpage 8 of this manual.InsPeCTIng burnersCheck pilot flame pattern and burner flamepatterns often.PILOT ASSEMBLYThe pilot assembly is factory preset for theproper flame height. Alterations may haveoccurred during shipping and handling. Thepilot is located on the back right hand sideof the burner.The thermocouple should be fully envelopedin the flame. The flame should not be liftingoff of the thermocouple element.If your pilot assembly does not meet theserequirements:• Turn the adjustment screw marked pilotclockwise to decrease or counterclockwiseto increase the flame to proper size (seeFigure 20, page 14).
