Inspect these areas ofheater before each use. Haveheater inspected yearly by a quali-fied service person. Heater mayneed more frequent cleaning dueto excessive lint from carpeting, bedding material, pet hair, etc.WARNING: Failure to keepthe primary air opening(s) ofthe burner(s) clean may result insooting and property damage.ODS/pILOT AND BURNER• Use a vacuum cleaner or small, soft bristledbrush to clean.BURNER INjECTOR HOLDER ANDpILOT AIR INLET HOLEThe primary air inlet holes allow the proper amountof air to mix with the gas. This provides a cleanburning flame. Keep these holes clear of dust, dirtand lint. Clean these air inlet holes prior to eachheating season. Blocked air holes will create soot.We recommend that you clean the unit every threemonths during operation and have heater inspectedyearly by a qualified service person. We also recommend that you keep the burnertube and pilot assembly clean and free of dust anddirt. To clean these parts we recommend usingcompressed air no greater than 30 PSI. Your localcomputer store, hardware store or home centermay carry compressed air in a can. You can use avacuum cleaner in the blow position. If using com-pressed air in a can, please follow the directions onthe can. If you don’t follow directions on the can,you could damage the pilot assembly.1. Shut off the unit, including the pilot. Allow theunit to cool for at least thirty minutes.2. Inspect burner, pilot and primary air inletholes on injector holder for dust and dirt (seeFigure 32).3. Blow air through the ports/slots and holes inthe burner.4. Check the injector holder located at the endof the burner tube again. Remove any largeparticles of dust, dirt, lint or pet hair with asoft cloth or vacuum cleaner nozzle.5. Blow air into the primary air holes on theinjector holder.6. In case any large clumps of dust have now beenpushed into the burner repeat steps 3 and 4.Clean the pilot assembly also. A yellow tip on thepilot flame indicates dust and dirt in the pilot as-sembly. There is a small pilot air inlet hole about2" from where the pilot flame comes out of thepilot assembly (see Figure 33). With the unit off, lightly blow air through the air inlet hole. You mayblow through a drinking straw if compressed airis not available.Figure 32 - Injector Holder On OutletBurner TubeBurner TubePrimary Air Inlet Holes(Shape of Holes MayVary by Model)Injector Holder (MayBe Brass or AluminumDepending on Model)Figure 33 - Pilot Inlet Air HoleBurnerTubePorts/SlotsPilotAssemblyPilot AirInlet Hole
