Press in and turn control knob clock wise to theOFF position (see Figure 17).LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONSWARNING• If fireplace has glass doors, never operate thisheater with glass doors closed. If you operate heaterwith doors closed, heat buildup inside fire placewill cause glass to burst. Also if fireplace openinghas vents at the bottom, you must open the ventsbefore op er at ing heater.• You must operate this heater with a fireplace screenin place. Make sure fireplace screen is closed beforerunning heater.NOTICE: During initial operation of new heater, me-tallic components may emit an odor as paint andassembly compounds are heated and cure. Be sureto provide adequate fresh air if odors are detected.Note: Home owners generally prefer to op er ate their heaterwith the chimney damper closed. This will put all the heatinto the room. However, there may be times you will desire thefull flames of the HI heat setting but will find the heat outputex ces sive.
