Setting up your TV 5Using the remote controlTo use the remote control:• Point the remote control towards the remotesensor on the front of your TV.Setting up your TVInstalling remote control batteriesTo install the remote control batteries:1 Remove the battery cover.2 Insert two AAA batteries into the batterycompartment. Make sure that you match the + and– symbols on the batteries with the + and –symbols in the battery compartment.3 Replace the cover.Connecting your TV to a power outletTo connect your TV to a power outlet:• Plug the power cord into a power outlet.Connecting an outside antennaAntenna cables come in two types: 75 ohm and300 ohm.• If your antenna cable has a 75 ohm connector,connect the cable to the coaxial jack on the backof your TV.• If your antenna cable has a 300 ohm connector,connect the cable to a 300-75 ohm adapter (notincluded), connect the adapter to a 75 ohm cable,then connect the other end of the 75 ohmconnector to the coaxial jack on the back of yourTV.Connecting cable TVYour TV has a 75 ohm jack for connecting cable TV.Some cable TV providers scramble the signals for“premium” (pay) channels. To view these channels,you need a converter/descrambler box.If you do not have a converter/descrambler box, youcan connect your cable TV directly to your TV. If youhave a converter/descrambler box, you can connectyour cable TV using an RF switch (not supplied). Formore information about connecting aconverter/descramble box, contact your cable TVprovider.To connect cable TV without aconverter/descrambler box:1 Connect one end of a 75 ohm cable to the coaxialjack on the back of your TV.2 Connect the other end of the cable to the cable TVwall outlet.16ENTERPress the arrows to move down, up, left,or right in the on-screen menu.Press the ENTER button to confirmchanges or to toggle options on and offin the on-screen menu.17 MENU Press to open the on-screen menu.18 FAVORITE Press to toggle the Favorite/Normalmode. See “Setting up the channel list”on page 7 for more information.19 VOL + or – Press to adjust the volume up or down.20 – Use with the 0-9 number buttons andENTER key to select digital channels.21 [Number buttons] Press to enter channel numbers.In the on-screen menu, press to enteryour parental control’s password.22 COMP Press to select Component sourcemode.23 VIDEO Press to toggle between S-Video andComposite source modes.24 INPUT Press to select the video input signalsource.25 DISPLAY Press to display status information.Notes• Do not expose the remote control to shock orliquids.• Do not use the remote control in an area withhigh humidity.• Do not place the remote control in directsunlight.• Do not place objects, such as furniture,between the remote control and the remotesensor.• The remote control may not work if directsunlight or bright light shines on the remotesensor. Either move your TV or change theangle at which you use the remote control.# Button Description Notes• Do not mix batteries of different types.• Do not mix old and new batteries.• Remove batteries when the charge is depleted.• Battery chemicals can cause a rash. If thebatteries leak, clean the battery compartmentwith a cloth. If chemicals touch your skin, washimmediately.• If the remote control is not going to be used foran extended period of time, remove thebatteries.Notes• Make sure that you use the correct type ofpower.
