IntroductionThe CurrentWatch™ EAC Series combine acurrent sensor and signal conditioner intoa single package. The EAC Series areavailable in solid or split core with 4-20 mA,0-5 VDC or 0-10 VDC outputs. The CurrentWatch EACR Seriesprovide “True RMS” output. Availableonly with a 4-20 mA output. Select EACRSeries sensors for applications involvingvariable speed or SCR-controlled loads. To open:Press tab inwardtowards hingeImportant:Keep contact areas cleanInstallationConsiderations for all EAC and EACR Series models…• Run wire to be monitored through the aperture (opening) in theswitch body.• These sensors can be located in the same environment asmotors, contactors, heaters, pull-boxes and other electrical enclo-sures.• Mounting can be done in any position or hung directly on a wirewith a wire tie.• Be sure to leave at least 1.0 in. (25.4 mm) distance between sen-sor and other magnetic devicesConsiderations for split-core models only…• Press the tab in the directionshown in the diagram to the right.• After placing the wire in theaperture, press the hinged portionfirmly downward until a click isheard and the tab pops out fully.• Keep split-core contact areasclean. Silicon grease is factory applied on the mating surfaces toprevent rust and improve performance. Be careful not to allowgrit or dirt into the grease in the contact area, particularly on coremating surfaces of split core models. Sensor operation could beimpaired if mating surfaces do not have good contact. Check visu-ally before closing.Quick Install GuideThe below steps can be followed to quickly install a CurrentWatchEAC or EACR Series switch.1. Run the wire to be monitored through the aperture.2. Mount the sensor to a surface, if needed.3. Connect output wiring:a. Use up to 14 AWG copper wires.b. If using a 0-5 or 0-10 VDC output model, make sure outputload is at least 1 megohm.c. If using a 4-20 mA output model, make sure loop voltage iscorrect (see “Output Wiring” section).4. Select range:a. Choose the correct range by positioning the Range Jumper.Output WiringConnect control or monitoring wires to the sensor. Use up to 14AWG copper wire and tighten terminals to 7 in.-lbs / 0.79 N·mmaximum torque. Be sure the output load or loop power does notexceed the sensor rating.Connection Notes:• Captive screw terminals.• Use 14-22 AWG solid or stranded.• Observe polarity.• See label for ranges and jumper positions.Model Wiring DiagramCurrent OutputModels (4-20 mA)Voltage OutputModels(0-5/0-10 VDC)Notes for Voltage Output Models:• Recommended output load greater than 1 megohm• Add 1.3% error for 100 kilohmLoop Voltage Requirements:• EAC Series: Min.
