8GBExplosion-protected safety switch 10A,GHG 261The properly bared conductors of cables shallbe connected with due regard to the respectiveregulations. To maintain the explosion protection, conduc-tors shall be connected with special care. The insulation shall reach up to the terminal. The conductor itself shall not be damaged. The minimum and maximum conductor crosssections that can be connected shall beobserved (see technical data). All screws and / or nuts of connectionterminals, including those not in use, shall betightened down securely.Excessive tightening may affect or damagethe connection. The standard terminals are designed for thedirect connection of conductors with copperwires. If multi- or fine-wire connection cables areused, the wire ends shall be handled accordingto the applicable national and international regu-lations (e.g. use of multicore cable ends). The position of the connection terminals isshown in the wiring diagrams on the switchbase and in fig. 3 on page 7 of the operatinginstructions. To ensure that the safety switch closescorrectly, switching at the switch shaft of theswitch insert is not permitted when theapparatus is open. If, to facilitate the feeding of conductors intothe enclosure, the switch insert is removedfrom the enclosure base, it shall be put backcorrectly before the electrical connection ismade.6.3 Cable entries (KLE);blanking plugsGenerally only certified cable entries andblanking plugs may be used.Flexible cables shall be used with trumpet-shaped cable glands or other suitableentries with additional pull relief. When using cable entries with a degree ofprotection that is lower than the IP protectionof the apparatus (see page 6), the degree of IPprotection for the complete unit is reduced. The relevant mounting directives for cablesentries being used shall be observed. In order to ensure the minimum degree ofprotection, any unused entry holes shall besealed with certified blanking plugs. When fitting cable entries, care has to be takenthat the sealing inserts are suitable for thecable diameter. In the case of sealing insertsthat are cut out, it is necessary to ensure thatthe insert is properly adapted to the cablediameter. In order to ensure the required minimumdegree of protection, the cable entries shall betightened down securely.Overtightening can impair the degree ofprotection.Warning: When tightening the cap nut of themetal cable entry (e.g. type ADL/ADE),asuitable tool shall be used to safeguard thegland against twisting.Any unused metric CEAG cable entries shall besealed with the blanking plug certified for thesemetric cable entries.6.4 Metal plates andexternal earth connectionIn case an external earth connection ismounted on the plastic enclosure, it should beconnected with a max. 25mm² wire. This earth connection is inserted through a M6drill in the inner wall of the enclosure (see fig. 4).The standard terminals are designed for thedirect connection of conductors with copperwires.Warning: Metal plates and metal glandsshall be incorporated in the potential equali-zation.6.5 Closing apparatusAny foreign matter shall be removed fromthe apparatus. The switch handle on the cover of the switch isto be set to the "ON" position. When fitting the apparatus cover, care shallbe taken to ensure that the switch shaft ofthe switch insert engages correctly in thecarrier hole of the switch handle. To ensure the required minimum degree ofprotection, the cover screws shall be tighteneddown.Overtightening may impair the degree ofprotection.6.6 Putting into operationBefore putting the apparatus into operation, thetests specified in the individual nationalregulations shall be performed. In addition to this, before being put intooperation, the correct functioning of theapparatus and installation of the apparatus shallbe checked in accordance with these operatinginstructions and other applicable regulations. The improper operation of safety switchesmay result in the invalidation of theguarantee.7 Maintenance / ServicingThe valid national regulations for theservicing / maintenance of electricalapparatus for use in potentially explosiveatmospheres shall be observed(IEC/EN 60079-17).Prior to opening the enclosure, it isnecessary to ensure that the voltage supplyhas been isolated or to take suitableprotective measures. The necessary intervals between servicingdepend upon the specific application and shallbe stipulated by the operator according to therespective operating conditions.During servicing, special attention shall begiven to checking the parts on which theexplosion protection depends (e.g. intactnessof the flameproof components, the enclosure, the seals and cable entries). If, in the course of servicing, it is ascertained, that repairs are necessary, section 8 of theseoperating instructions shall be observed.8 Repairs / Overhaul /ModificationsOnly original COOPER Crouse-Hinds partsshall be used for carrying out repairs. In the event of damage to the flameproofencapsulation, replacement of thesecomponents is mandatory. In case of doubt, the respective apparatus shall be sent toCOOPER Crouse-Hinds for repair.Repairs that affect the explosion protectionmay only be carried out by COOPERCrouse-Hinds or by a qualified electrician incompliance with the respective nationalregulations (IEC/EN 60079-19).Modifications or changes to the safetyswitches are not permitted.9 Disposal / RecyclingThe respective valid national regulations forwaste disposal shall be observed whendisposing of apparatus. To facilitate the recycling of individual parts, parts made of moulded plastic shall bear themarking for the type of plastic used. The product range is subject to changes andadditions.External earth connectionInner wall ofthe enclosureFig. 4Internalearth plateInternal earthconnection |
