MEDC recommend the use of stainless steel screws.Access to TerminalsUnscrew the 4 off M5 screws (4.0mm A/F hexagon key) holding the lid to the base. The cover screwsare captive and should be retained in the cover.Gently remove the cover assembly from the base of the enclosure. The cover assembly should remainattached to the base by means of a retaining strap.Once termination is complete, carefully replace the cover assembly back onto the base avoidingdamage to the mating surfaces. Ensure that the retaining strap is not trapped between the matingsurfaces and that the o-ring is correctly seated in its groove. Ensure the retaining strap and wires areclear of the microswitch actuator and operating mechanism. Tighten the 4 off M5 screws (4.0mm A/Fhexagon key) in the cover assembly evenly. To maintain the IP rating of the unit, the recommendedtorque on the cover screws is between 2.5 - 3.0Nm.GENERAL ARRANGEMENTOperationThe unit is operated by the breaking of the glass. The operator is protected from the broken glass by thevinyl glass label.Replacement of the glassTo replace the glass after operation of the unit, remove the small outer cover held in place by the two offslotted screws. Take out the glass and remove any broken fragments from the unit. Place the new glasselement into the unit and replace the cover, ensuring the 2 off slotted screws are tightened evenly.Following replacement of the glass it is advised that the unit is tested using the procedure outlinedbelowTesting the unitUsing the test key provided, insert the key into the test hole (situated on bottom right hand side of theglass cover) and engage into test cam. Turn the key in a clockwise direction (approximately 60°). Thiswill simulate the breaking of the glass. Release the key to reset the callpoint.NOTE: MEDC DO NOT recommend forcing the test key further than 80° clockwise or 0° anti-clockwise as this may lead to premature failure of the test cam.11/17 © Eaton MEDC Ltd 2017
