The unit is intended for point of entry ormain board protection and is connected in parallelwith the power system via its own safety disconnectMCB.Differential and common mode transients arediverted to mains earth via internally mounted surgediverters through a common earth bus. All internalconnections are designed for minimum impedance toenable maximum current flow back to earth. This model ( SPD3200-TN-E ) is designed for usein systems with a grounded neutral whereconnected for N-E operation. Line transients arediverted directly in L-E mode.OPERATIONIndicators - The operation status of the SPD3200 isindicated by blue indicators on the front panel. These4 indicators show the status of each of the L and Nsurge diverters inside the unit. The indicators areblue when the unit is powered on and operating. When any of these extinguishes then thecorresponding internal surge diverter should bereplaced. When any indicator fails the protectionrelay contacts change over. The power failure alarmwill also operate when mains voltage falls below180VAC.External safety disconnector - The prescribed safetydisconnector is provided as part of the unit and is a63A MCB specially tested for this application. ThisMCB is mounted on the inside of the unit and iswhere all connections are made.Surge counter - The unit comes with a LCD displaysurge counter. The counter will operate each timethere is a current pulse event occurring between L-Eand has a threshold trigger level of <1.5kA. Eachevent will cause the counter to increment.Key lock - The unit comes with a key lock on thefront panel to prevent uncontrolled access.Cable entry – L and N connections are made througha separate cable gland entry point at the top left ofthe unit. Earth connections can be made via aseparate cable gland connection also on the top ofthe unit.
