InstallationNote: The installation steps listed below assumethat you have already decided on the requirednumber and location for all keypads, expandersand power supplies.Caution: Static ElectricityLike many other electronic products, the controlunit, keypads and expanders contain componentsthat are sensitive to static electricity. Try not tohandle their PCBs directly. If you must handle aPCB, take the standard precautions againstdamage by static electricity.Step 1. Fit the Control UnitCaseTo prevent access to the inside of the control unitthrough the holes in the rear of the case you mustmount the control unit on a wall or other flatsurface.WARNING Ensure that the wall is strong enoughto support the weight of the control unit, its lid and17Ah lead acid battery. The total weight of thecontrol unit plus batteries can be up to 18kg.The case must be vertical, as shown in Figure 2.Locate and mark the position of the case. Also, mark the position where the lid/back tamperbracket touches the wall. There must be enoughspace around this point to fit the supplied tampershroud (see Figure 21).Fitting Plastic Feet and Tamper SleeveThe control unit is supplied from the factory withfour plastic feet and one plastic tamper sleeve. Fitthese onto the outside of the case back, as shownin Figure 20. Fit feet only to the fixing holes thatyou intend to use.Fitting tamper ShroudThe tamper shroud is intended to prevent anintruder sliding a tool between case and wall tointerfere with the tamper bracket. When fitted theshroud must surround the point where the tamperbracket touches the wall. see Figure 21. Fit thetamper shroud at the position where the lid/backtamper touches the wall, see Figure 21.Figure 20 Fitting Feet and Tamper Sleeve.Figure 21 Fitting Tamper Shroud.Fitting Case Back to WallMount the case vertically, as shown in Figure 21.Use at least three fixing holes. Use No14/M6screws at least 50mm long, inserted into wallanchors appropriate for the type of wall. Figure 2shows the fixing holes and cable entries.
