InstallationInstalling the AudioFire Hardware and SoftwareNow that you have logged in as an administrator, checked the OS X version, andupdated your software, you are ready to install your AudioFire product in yourcomputer.1. Install the AudioFire Console. Insert the AudioFire Install CD-ROM into yourmachine. Open the “AudioFire Console” folder and double-click the dmg file.Now drag the AudioFire Console icon to your Applications folder, or whereveryou want to keep it on your Mac. This is also a good time to copy the manual toyour hard drive as well.2. Once you have installed the Console, locate the AudioFire interface box, thepower cable, and the FireWire cable. Securely mount the interface into yourequipment rack. If you will not be mounting the box in a rack, then be sure toplace the interface box in a secure location.3. Plug the power cable firmly into the interface and a power socket, and thenturn on the interface by pressing the power button.4. Plug one end of the FireWire cable into the FireWire connector on the rear ofthe AudioFire interface. Attach the other end of the FireWire cable to an openFireWire port on your computer. (If the connector does not match the port onyour computer then you may need to get an adapter.)5. Your Mac will automatically recognize your new AudioFire product withoutany fanfare. See the “Software Configuration” section below for more info.NOTE: You should check the driver downloads area of our website(www.echoaudio.com) for any firmware updates and install them beforecontinuing. The AudioFire hardware must be installed and powered on for thefirmware update to load properly.11Installation6. You can now attach external audio devices to the connectors on the AudioFireinterface box. Information on attaching external devices to the audio interfacebox may be found in the following section: “Connecting to the AudioInterface”.
