To make sure thatthe automatic chain brake operates properly, followthese steps:1. Stop the engine.2. Hold the saw with the guide bar approximately55 cm (22 in.) above a wooden surface. Righthand should hold the rear handle, and left handshould hold the front handle.3. Release the front handle and drop the end of theguide bar against the wooden surface.4. The impact should lock the chain brake.IMPORTANTWhen checking the operation of the automaticchain brake, use a soft surface substance likewood to provide the impact so the chain is notdamaged.WINTER OPERATIONUse the winter plug to prevent carburetor trouble inwinter.• Release the cylinder cover latches and removecylinder cover. Remove plug from warm weatherposition, and install into cold weather “storage”position.NOTEFor operation at normal temperature return theplug to its original place.
