Stop the engine.2. Hold the saw with the guide bar approximately50 cm above a wooden surface. Right handshould hold the rear handle, and left hand shouldhold the front handle.3. Release the front handle and drop the end of theguide bar against the wooden surface.4. The impact should lock the chain brake.IMPORTANTWhen checking the operation of the automaticchain brake, use a soft surface substance likewood to provide the impact so the chain is notdamaged.WINTER OPERATIONUse the winter plug to prevent carburetor trouble inwinter.• Remove air cleaner cover. Remove plug fromwarm weather position, and install into coldweather “storage” position.NOTEFor operation at normal temperature return theplug to its original place.
