181. Disconnect spark plug lead from spark plug.2. Remove (1) screw from top guard, and remove guard.3. Remove (4) screws from engine/muffler cover, and remove cover.4. Use the brush to remove dirt form cylinder fins.5. Remove grass and leaves from the grid between the recoil starterand fuel tank.6. Assemble components in reverse order.NOTEWhen installing the engine/muffler cover, be certain the tabs of themetal deflector shield are in the slots of the cover.EXHAUST SYSTEMSpark Arrestor ScreenLevel 2.Tools Required: Cross Head Screwdriver. Soft metal brush.Parts Required: Spark arrestor screen, Gasket1. Remove engine/muffler cover (A). See "Cleaning Cooling System"pages 17 and 18 for step by step instructions.2. Place piston at Top Dead Center (TDC) to prevent carbon/dirt fromentering cylinder.3. Remove spark arrestor screen cover (B), gasket (C), and screen (D)from muffler body.4. Clean carbon deposits from muffler components.NOTEWhen cleaning carbon deposit, be careful not to damage thecatalylic element inside muffler.ABCD
