23Select the Camera ModeThere are two modes for taking pictures: Snapshot andPreset. Snapshot mode is for basic picture taking, whilethe Preset mode allows you to take pictures in one offive preset schemes: Landscape, Portrait, Night Scene,Self-Timer and Macro.Rotate the Mode Dial to the mode you wish to use. Forbasic “point and click” picture taking, you can use theSnapshot mode indicated by the camera icon .To use the self-timer, rotate the Mode Dial to the Presetmode and the use the Up and Down buttons to selectthe Self-Timer mode.Frame the ShotTo prevent the camera from taking blurry pictures, hold itsteady. Use either the Viewfinder or the LCD display toframe the picture, according to the needs of yourshooting conditions. Turning off the LCD display andtaking pictures with just the Viewfinder will result in longerbattery life. However, in some conditions it may be moreconvenient to use the LCD display.
