15. Tips and tricksHere you will find a number of tips and tricks that will help you to handle the device.– These buttons allow you in many contexts to switch between the input view andthe list view. In the list view, you will see all of the entries which match your previous input.This means you can find what you are looking for even faster.Help – On any screen on which you see the symbol, you can tap on it and you will beguided directly to the Help chapter which relates to the corresponding theme. This ensuresthat you can find an explanation of the particular function in many different contexts.Scrolling and browsing – In list views, you can move the continuous text up and downdirectly with your finger. In menus with several pages, you can scroll to the next page byswiping your finger sideways.Hide all – On the navigation view screen, you can hide all elements if you hold down themenu button for a long time. Pressing on it again for a while or switching to the menu willrestore the normal view again.Route options – With the route option "Easy" the route may be longer as gradients of over4% are avoided. The avoidance of certain types of routes (tunnels, hiking trails etc.) also hasan influence on the route which is calculated. After the route has been calculated, you canchange the route options again if you tap on . This allows you to compare whatdifference these settings make.Map zooming – Zooming in and out of the map helps in many situations. If you want tomove the map a large amount, first zoom out. You can then move the map over greaterdistances more quickly. Zoom in on the map (e.g. in the view of the calculated route) toidentify more details.Set rapid access – You can adapt the rapid access menu on the navigation view screen tocater for your needs (see Chap. 6.3.10). This allows you to always quickly select thefunctions which you use most frequently.Save power – You can save power and thus increase the operating life if you switch thedevice to stand-by mode when you are not actually using it.
